Well, we made it the first week after launching Cooei! The response has been so positive and upbeat, and already we are filling orders for the ladies who have struggled for too long with the pain inflicted from their high heels!
Launching was a pretty big step for us. As many of you know, we had kept the product and brand quiet throughout the entire development which was just shy of 3 years.
Strangely, it got me thinking about the cold plunge at my gym. For years I watched as ladies took the plunge into icy cold water, wondering how on earth they have the courage to do that. I dabbled with the idea, and on occasions tried to get my big toe in.
One night, a girl and I were chatting in the hot tub, and she said “hang on a minute” got up, walked calmly into the cold plunge, like it was lukewarm water, until it was above her shoulders. Staring at me from in the icy cold water she said, “sorry, what were you saying?”
“I don’t know how you do that!” I said, genuinely confused and amazed.
“You can do it, it’s fine, you’ll be fine”, she said.
After she walked away, I looked at the cold plunge challenging me from a distance. I stood up, scared to death, not wanting to get in, but knowing I had to. I took a deep breathe and very quickly, without stopping (that is my secret) put my whole body in.
It was shockingly cold, but immediately felt great.
“See, I told you” the girl yelled clapping from around the corner.
The night after Cooei’s launch, I was doing my hot then cold routine, which almost always forces me into reflection, when an older lady started quizzing me about the mysteries of the cold plunge.
“Go for it!” I said. “I was scared of it for years! You’ll be fine!” She looked back at me and said “I could never do that, not in a million years”.
Once I was done, I grabbed my towel and headed towards the showers thinking to myself, oh well, maybe the cold plunge isn’t for everyone.
When I ran back to grab my keys I had forgotten, I caught a glimpse of that same lady, cautiously, stepping into the deep and freezing water. She made it in, to just above her knees.
I was surprised at how happy this made me feel.
I guess it showed me we all have to take plunges, big and small, in different ways every day. But having an amazing family to set their examples and cheer you along, certainly helps you have more courage.
And sometimes just a small push from another soul, can get us to where we need to be.
