
This is one of my favorite childhood images of my sister and I. It reminds me of true sisterhood and how we have been there for each other, forever.
I still remember that day, it was my birthday party, and there was a lot of attention (pressure) on me to blow out those candles, it was stressful, overwhelming, almost too much to bear. I had to make a wish, blow out the candles and not tell anyone my wish… I was clearly having a meltdown. But Cas put her hand on my shoulder and told me it would be okay.
Sometimes when I find myself having an adult meltdown, I look at this picture and think about Cas’s hand on my shoulder. Even though it isn’t physically there, I remember that feeling and know everything will be okay.
Some things never change, and that’s what big sisters are for.
